BlueMDPicker is selling SL2000 Silver Domes (link below). I was wondering if anyone could tell me how good they are and how the ystack up against more "modern" tweeters (ie one s I can buy new today). Not bad at 60 for a pair, even though they are almost as old as I am (9/30/86). 18 year old tweeters for an 18 year old's system :)

HOWEVER I don't even know I'm going to build a pair of speakers with best friend so this could all be moot. AT least BlueMDPicker is getting free advertising...

If you are designing speakers you will need the impedance curve and frequency response of the tweeter. If you cant measure them, you may be better off going with a tweeter with published specs.

It is not really a matter of what is better. It is what is better for a certain application.

Thanks. I think maybe it was kinda stupid to ask...:o

Yeah if and when I get to building my own speakers, i'll go with something new and with known specs. EDIT: Something that works well with movies, my HT's primary focus.

It wasn't a stupid question at all. I suggest that unless you have measuring equipment that you do not try and design your own. There are hundreds of proven designs and kits on the internet. Even by building a kit you will learn a lot and you will be garanteed to be satified with the end result.

I think that's my friend was looking at, actually. My money, his skills: what a combination . Regardless without Kyle I seriously wouldn't be here (no HT for me...).
