Perfect is a word I don't often use... but wow. Got my LSi9's this morning and moved the 7's to the back. In some abstract world of sound this is exactly what I had imagined as the sound I was looking for.

The one thing I wasn't really expecting was for the 9's to fix one of the major problems I had with my system - punchy bass. I actually dislike punchy bass that forward firing subs produce, and so absolutely love the down firing HSU. I do however like a little bit of punch, since percussion instruments don't sound right without it. The 9's do exactly that, just a bit of punch which perfectly compliments the body shaking HSU. I was considering getting an SVS but now I'm not sure. I just tried out music so I'll have to see what the 9's add to movies.

The other major fix was having RTi6's as my surrounds, wow I just realized how completely horrible they sounded in an LSi system. They're great on their own, but adding them with LSi's just doesn't work. For the first time I just completely lost myself in the Hell Freezes Over DVD, the sound was so completely immersive.

I got these 9's from ebay 8 months used but not a scratch on them, so they are already nicely broken in, and in general I must say they do add a sophistication over the 7's. They create a larger presence for the entire front stage (which I suppose they should) Anyway I think I'm going to fast-track an SACD player, can't wait to hear high res 5.1 now :D

Welcome to the LSi9 club! I'm glad you like the LSi9! I am pretty much in the same boat as you - 9s for fronts and 7s for rears.... pretty nice combo if you ask me.

I used to run 7s up front, but ever since I heard the 9s in store, I knew that the 7s werent gonna fill what I needed. There is something about the 9s... the way they add oomph particularly in the midrange regions, the way they extend deeper, and the way the tweeter is kept in better control (against sibilance or overwhelming the other drivers) in comparison to the 7s. I can drive my 9s louder without hitting some sort of a sound "road-block" (meaning, without the sound becoming unfavorable to my ears).

Enjoy the 9s. I am looking into getting an LSiC to finish off my computer speaker system and perhaps the 15s to provide extra oomph up front.

However, I am a very satisfied 9s owner!
