What is a good sub to buy? Center channel?
Hi guys,
I need some help here on choosing a good sub. A sub that would be good not only for the movies but also music. Also I just went over some talk since I am new to Polk Audio and I found out that CSi5 is much better than CSi3 that I have purchased this week. I bought it of Cruchtfield website, no payments, no intrest for 6 months. I am short with money right now and I thought it was a great buy for $200 with a free shipping. Do you think I should return it and get the CSi5 if they have same deal but $200 more? Thanks
Tom

Great post. I did the same thing. I got the csi3, took it home and even though it was better then what I had, I had to try the csi5 and I can tell you its like night and day. It is that much better. If you can afford it, build slowly and get the best. You wont regret it. I am going to get the 505 for the sub. I am not sure what is great or not but heard the 505 and its great. Good luck.RXV1400 Yamaha Receiver

Newbie alert: Same here. Welcome.
Anyway I had a chance to demo a couple subwoofers at Cambridge Soundworks and Tweeter (standard "wish I could buy that"). The Polks were fine for my purpose of movies. I just felt they were week because I like subs I can "feel". Music is different, as according to illustrius members of this forum the "feel" can cost you overall sound quality. So Polks could/should be fine for music. One other thing. Seems everyday someone is raving about how great SVS subwoofers are. Might be worth a look, though I'm not sure of price.
Yes you got a good deal on the CSi3. I got lucky that best friend/audio "advisor" gave me his old one, which is fne for me (I like). Can't help you with the 3 or 5 debate, but remember: you need a good center. Both are apparently good center. You need to listen to both."Nothing in this world is accomplished without passion."

Thanks KLD2246 for advice but I am not sure if it is worth to spend extra $200 for CSi5. I need more people to convince me that the 5 is worth it. I have 25 more days to return the CSi3 and exchange for CSi5.
Now lets get back to subwoofers. I was checking out used Velodyne VA 1012X II. It has a 10" forwarding and 12" down woofers a total of 250 watts and I could probably get it for $200. Now I need some more feedbeck from those who had already Polk 505 sub. I am looking around right now but I want to get something good but also not too expensive no more than $500.
