I'm thinking about purchasing one the these amps. Either a Parasound HCA 1000 or the Hafler 9180. Which one is better for my speakers. I have RTi100s. Also do they sound different?
Thanks
Thanks

Hafler is more comparable to Soundcraftsmen. Kind of a "work horse" amp if you will. The Parasound will most likely be a little more articulate/accurate; the Hafler, warm and laid back.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I have used a Parasound D/AS 1000 (130wpc into 8 Ohms) since 1988 and it has been a fantastic amp for the price. I have used it to drive SDA 2B's. I am now upgrading to the Parasound HALO A21 due to my success with my D/AS 1000 over the past 17 years. Have not heard a Hafler in quite a while so I cannot give much feed back there.2 ch rig:

I've been running a Hafler DH120 amp to drive a pair of Studio Monitor 7's since the early 80's..Still kicking and going strong.
Just my $.02
Good luck,:) -
If your system is sounding analytical/cold, go with the Hafler. If you are a resolution/detail geek, or have a tubed pre, get the Parasound.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Is the Parasound HCA 1000 any good? And how is it different from the HCA 1000A?
Thanks for the replies. -

Personally, I'd hold out and get a 1500A instead, only a couple more hundred $, and ten times the amp...but that's just based on my experience... -
A friend of mine has a 150W X 2 halfler. To me it seems a little harsh, especially at higher volumes and extended play times. The last thing you want is an amp that starts to beat you down after an hour or so. Id go with the Parasound. Who knows mabe it's just this model, but I'd still go with the Parasound. Did you check out what Rotel has to offer?

Parasound "A" series have the 12v trigger circuit. Not a biggie.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
