Try starting it up in Safe Mode
That looks like Windows lost a registry key for a crucial runtime application (Something that lets windows know the application is there)

Tried it, tried reverting the settings back to the last known safe settings, or whatever they call it. But yeah, I tried....

If you have your windows XP cd, try booting off of it. There should be an option in the beginning to repair the selected installed of windows (it's one or two screens in). That will probably fix it.. Just make sure you don't get to the screen where it wants you to format your hard drive... that means theres something wrong, and you don't want to lose yer shite :)

If you have a mass-produced computer, it's likely that you don't have a true XP startup CD. In that case... well... *looks around*

    I dunno.

Boot to the XP CD and select R (Recovery Console)

    At the command prompt type:

    ren c:\windows\system32\config\system system.old
    copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config

    Reboot

Then, to stop the crash dumps go to System Properties - Advanced - Startup & Recovery Settings and where it says "Write Debugging Information" change it to: None
