What to do, RTi6, CSi5 what to do about surrounds?

Just picked up a pair of RTi6 yesterday from a member here. I have not unpacked it or anything yet but I bought these to see if I can live with bookshelf and replacing my RTi100. At this point I don't know if I'm doing the right thing yet. I currently have some FX500i in the rear I do a lot of 5 channel stereo for music. Is it worth while to get some FXi5 or just keep what I have? Any comments on the Rti6 vs the Rti100... even though it's apples to oranges but I just had to ask.

I'll defer to someone else on the 6vs100 commentary...but I don't the 'upgrade' in surrounds will yeild any significant difference in sound...

why do you want to replace your 100's? dont they have a built in powered sub? that's going to give you more bass then the RTi6's will. maybe if you can.. think about setting up a 2 channel system with your new RTi6's. :D

I don't think you'll gain ANYTHING by replacing your RT500i's as surrounds with the RTi5's.. Nada to gain there.

Well I got the RTi6 for 2 reasons. Well maybe 3

    1. Good reviews, I just have to find out for myself.
    2. Impulse buy
    3. Just want to try something different. I've never had bookshelf as mains before so I just want to try it.

I had an RT15i stored for a very long time then I dug it up to sell it a few weeks ago. I've always had it as the rear so it never saw any real power. Before I sold it I hooked it up the front channels and disabled all the other speakers even the subs just to listen. I was blown away by how much potential those little suckers have. For some reason they sound so much fuller than the RTi100 as far as the dynamics goes. Maybe I'm just crazy or I was just giving myself excuses to get new speakers.

You already have a terrific system with great speakers. If you're that eager to spend money, get yourself a separate amp to hook up to your receiver and watch your speakers come alive.

I thought I wanted new speakers as well until I got my amp. Now I'm perfectly happy with my setup & it cost me far less than a new pair of speakers.

Since you do alot of 5 channel listening, I would get a 5 channel amp, that way all of them are getting lots more power.

Well I just picked up a denon avr3802 a few weeks ago and I take that as an upgrade from the HK Avr500.... all of my speakers sounds so much better. I'm trying to keep my entertainment center as simple as possible because my av stand doesn't have that much room. I can fit 4 component max at the moment until I hang the plasma on the wall then I can stack them but it will look very busy which I'm trying to avoid.
