Now, get your TV out of torch mode ASAP. For beginners I recommend the Sound and Vision Home Theater Tune-up DVD.

Hey Josh, is that a future Polk spokesmodel in the pic? :D

Speaking of "torch mode", why do manufacturers have those settings so high from the factory? You would think they would want to set to last long so they would be conservative.

If I had to guess Id say it would be to make then "brighter" than the competition on the sales floor so youd notice them more.

No, you'd think they'd want the TV's to last, but not to long. That way you'll be happy with your TV and ready to buy a new one sooner. That's good business. hahaha

I used the THX video setup (which is probably worthless) and it looks a little better. I am going to try to locate the Avia (sp?) setup disc that we have somewhere in the building. It looks better in DVD with component and now that I have HDMI, my next buy will be a compatible DVD player.

BTW, make sure you have a full size truck and a couple of (sober) friends to help. 270 pounds with the packaging. My camera is the one built into my camcorder so it's not the best quality. Max res 640x480.
