hi juice21 i thank you for being a more welcoming person here. i have the JBLs north ridge series with denon products avr 3801 dvd 2800 and monster products for cable. JBLs center is very harsh or bright i think with the titanium tweet. it works well for the others. after a few different centers polks sounded smoother and was what i stuck with. i have not seen the lsi series polk had until coming here its very interesting. what system do you have?

Hey! I was welcoming! I welcomed!
Question: In your mixed brand system, do you find that timbre-matching (or the lack of it) is a problem? Do you get a realistic surround environment as the sound passes from speaker to speaker around your room? Just interested, since this timbre-matching thing is something we're big on.

micah it is not exact yet not very noticable. the JBL center even with the same tweets as all the others was just overwhelmingly bright to me. the tweet in polks cs350ls won my choice over others i tried it is not perfect but pretty good. when consentrating on the movie i really can't tell. if it were an effect channel yes but the center has more dialogue then effect to me. i did not take you as not welcoming it was the other guy seeming to make fun of me. it is just the way i talk with friends.Jack

i actually looked at both the northridge and studio series of JBL when looking to upgrade. being mstly an HT guy, i was basing most of my decision on what line to go with on the center. i found the same results as you with the JBL centers, very harsh and bright. they did not make that soundtrack 'lifelike' at all IMO. the JBL stuio towers were nice musically, but in my mind, polk was the obvious choice. welcome to our little polk world, stick around long enough and we'll turn you from the dark side;) ...must buy polk...:D

i do to own a jbl but mine is like quite old it has 2 5 inch woofers and a 14mm titanium laminate tweter it is a sc305 the olny reason i upgraded is that i wanted to timber match my speakers and the video shelding wasent that good on it ps i have also owned even cheaper speakers than JBL like KLH they have good bass but that is it

I have an old pair of Altec Lansing M200T(?) Bookshelf speakers. And surprisingly they have turned out to be a pretty good pair of speakers. I have been half thinking about putting them as my rear speakers just to compare them with the 25i's.
