I currently bi-amp my RTi150's front speakers with an ONKYO 898 AVR and a Harman Kardon PA2000 amp bridge mode powering the woofers of the 150's. I'll be getting a new amp soon Parasound / HALO A23 in the mail (Monday I think / hope) so I decided to rewire the speakers so I was only using 1 amp removing the Bi-amp'd ONKYO AVR. This setup will allow me the demo cables easier then in the past fewer X-Y variables to consider. What shock me was that the HK PA2000 was better in the mid / tweet area also over the ONK, knowing already that the ONK needed help working the low end of the 150's.The 150 is better sounding powered by 100w vs. 100w + 110w. So in short I think my $1500 AVR is quickly becoming an expensive PrePro.

Thanks is killing me the fact it don't come today. Demo'ing some interconnects right now and really enjoying these SC analog 2 cables, I can't even imagine the sound improvement that amp may bring me.

we had to hook it up without a pre because the luxman **** the bed but theres gain controls on the back so that worked out fine. as soon as i hooked it up my dad goes "wow that sounds great". the improvement was huge. we were listening to gypsy kings and alice in chains unplugged and damn the guitars sounded like they were in the room. i highly doubt you will be disappointed with it.

I found my system sounded better un-biamped and un-biwired. My Athena's are not even bi-wireable, and I love it. One less thing to be neurotic about.
I've done a ton research on this topic, and when the smoke clears and you look at all the pros/cons, bi-wiring just didn't make sense to me given the additional cost vs the subtle improvement, if any. Of course, to each his own...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Steve,
I didn't state this, but yes they are un-biwired alone with un-biamp'd.
Must say this rearrangement works 300 times better checking Demo cables.
A side note here, I must say I feel that I have grown up some with this board. Any thinking I had Bi-amp'd, 2 small vs. 1 large amp thinking. Any of this is being rethought.

Congrats on getting the new piece Steve. Glad to see you pulled the trigger! You made a great pick. My Onk has performed as a pre/pro for about a year or so now, its the next piece in the HT to get upgraded.
