I have the following speakers:

RTi12 - Mains
FXi5 - Surround
CSi3 - Center (Free with the FXi5s...)

I've been looking at the Polk Subwoofers but it seems that there may be better models available for the same price. (I've been looking at the PSW505)

Does anyone have any recommendations for my current setup?

Thanks in advance.

there is nothing wrong with Polk subwoofers. for the money.. they play pretty loud. They aren't the best on the market. but they ain't half bad either. I think most people in here started out with a Polk subwoofer in the beginning. I surely did.

After using the Polk subwoofer for about 2 years I longed for something a bit more lower bass. So i went with a SVS 20-39PCi round subwoofer. It's much better than the Polk i was using.

Don't shy away from the Polk subwoofers. But if you want something that slams deeper.. then there are other choices out there.

the system you are building.. looks and should sound really very good. Those RTi12's should rock your house quite nicely. ;)

Thanks for the information. I lucked out and found the RTI12's at Circuit City when they were phasing out the RTI line. (Thanks to information provided by others on this forum)

I hope to eventually have a 7.1 setup....but I think I'll get the subwoofer first and then upgrade my receiver.

    Thanks again!

It all depends on what you're looking for. How will you be using it? What kind of room are you in? All HT or also music? What's your budget? How particular are you about the music or are you more HT oriented? What kind of receiver do you have and how is the bass management on it? So many unanswered questions. Typically though, people here will tell you to just get an SVS which is not a bad decision. There's a lot of good subs out there.

You're right I should've included more information in my original post. I'll be using my setup mainly for HT but also music from time to time. My room size is is approx. 600 square feet. Budget wise I like to buy something that will last.

Mainly I just wanted to make sure that when buying a sub matching is not as critical as the surrounds.

    Thanks again

My room size is is approx. 600 square feet.

For a room that size, you're gonna need one helluva sub. So get the biggest, baddest sub you can afford. Another option is to get a decent sub, and also buy a separate amp for your RTi12's since they produce a good amount of deep bass.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Yeah, that's a big room, I'd look at the dual 12's that SVS has to offer.

    PB12-ISD/2 or PB12-Plus/2

I'm glad to hear that you like your Velodyne sub. I was beginning to look at some of their products.

Nice setup...our HT setup is similar except....
You have the CSi5, a nicer TV, a sub, ah well....some day!

    Thanks for the information!
