Panamax Ate My HDTV!

Ok, so it didn't really eat my TV... but my Max 5100 did eat my HDTV signal.

I got my HD box from Time Warner a few weeks ago, and had some troubles with certain channels. A couple I couldn't get at all. I didn't really have the time to fool with it, but when FOX HD died and I could never get it back (screen just stayed black) I got on the phone with time warner.

Long story short, a tech came out and we found out that running my cable signal through my surge protector killed most of my HD channels.

it's an issue because Panamax requires that everything go through their protector for their equipment guarantee to be valid. In theory an electrical surge could come in through the cable line and wreak havoc or destroy some of my equipment.

I emailed Panamax to see what they say, no response yet. It's no biggie for me, I just routed my cable signal right to the cable box. I just want Panamax to man up do something about it in future releases, and say that I'm covered should an electrical surge or lightning strike blow up my gear. :)

that's odd, Phuz. I have a DirecTV HD, run the coax from the satellite to the Pana, and then to the receiver. I don't have any problem with it (it's been on for a couple years). Hmm...strange. I have the Pana 5500.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have TWC ran through my TrippLite and don't have any issues but I know a lot of people have issues with the Monster ones. From what I understand, all surge protectors cut down your bandwidth a little and when you already have a weak signal, it can cut out some HD channels. HD channels have to have 95% signal or more or you don't get anything.
