My brother-in-law sent us some pictures from Iraq that he and some of the men in his unit have taken. He just wanted to send some images that don't get shown very much. He talks about how our soldiers really go out of their way to help the Iraqi people whenever they can. He said we should be proud of them as not only soldiers but as human beings. The abuses are rare and get blown out of proportion...the good is rampant and is mostly ignored... Enjoy the pictures....

Very impressive pictures from soliders in a war zone. Some of those look like they could have been taken by AP

You gotta love what digital cameras/photography can do. Take a high quality picture...download it and send it anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds.

Here is one of the emails he sent to my sister, family and friends It is too good not to share. He is a Chaplain in the 278th out of Maryville, TN. I hope he doesn't mind:
The resolve of the American soldier never ceases to amaze me. You can place him/her in the most unusual environments and they continue to display most uncommon valour. I wish I could tell the individual acts of kindness that the soldiers show on a daily basis but Im not sure what I can tell for OPSEC reasons. Let me say though you all would be proud of the citizen soldiers that represent you in this small piece of the world. I wish the real story would be told where the world could see how every day Americans do their duty for country and God. No Rambos just honest people helping a country long oppressed. The pictures Im sending show why we are here. What I see on the news doesnt even resemble what I observe.
This is a very poor country with the most commom items we take for granted nonexistent. The regime that ruled its people in such grandeur left people living in mud huts with no windows. Last night it was 32 degrees. Even the people with adequate housing live substandard. You should see the locals flock in the villages when our Docs visit. Most time in the severe cases there is not much they can do but because we are Americans we can fix anything. Wish it were so. However these guys are making a difference. It may be one at a time but when someboby who only knows brutality has an act of kindness displayed to them, you can see the change in there eyes. This is a people who forgot how to smile. The American soldier is teaching them how to again.Wonder why you dont see this on the news. Im sending Carol pictures of what Im talking about. Ask her for copies because they are on CDs.
Keep praying for the Regiment and our safety. The good Lord continues to bless. Randy

The damn press blows everything out of proportion over there and distorts our image. Yeah, we really don't get to see things like this. All the press wants to do is find some controversy or the next dead soldier to make it seem totally hopeless and a waste of time.

Nice to see that we are making a difference. We get up everyday, get a warm shower, get dressed, eat breakfast while probably watching TV in the comforts of a warm solid home with out blinking an eye because...thats America. Could not imagine living like those poor people over there wondering when Saddam would send a death squad to murder us for speaking a few words against him.

    Thanks for the photos!

Great photos of the kids Shack. We have to get to those children if OUR children are going to have half the chances we did. Plus, it's just really right to take care of the kids.

I'm not sure we'll ever be able to help the poor people of North Korea. That is just so sad.

Thanks, Shack. It's sad that the media won't show any of this stuff, but it's good to know that it does exist.
