Back in the saddle....

For the last six weeks or so, the old homestead here has been going through some changes. We've had wood floors installed in most of the house, gutted the middle bathroom and replaced everything....all new kitchen. Expensive and time consuming. Anyhow, that hasn't left much time for listening to gear as things have just been a complete mess.
Anyhow, things are put back together and I've found that the wood floors makes the LR MUCH more lively and now I've spiked the 2.3tl's (not directly TO the floor, I've got small pieces of left over wood flooring under the spikes. Talk about a big difference in sound! The midrange, which has always been somewhat recessed, has been flushed out.
Bass response??
MUUUUAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Now we've got bass in SPADES.
I really wish those that were here for Carolina Polkfest could hear the difference!
After a layoff, it's GREAT to be back enjoying gear again. I feel like I've got a brand new rig in the LR. While I still think the cave rig is tops, the gap has been narrowed.

Actually, I won't (nor will the lovely Wendi, sorry George) be here.
We are headed to Memphis for a few days. Eat some ribs, go to Graceland, that whole thing.
Funny you should mention it though as Wendi (I swear I'm not making this up) wants to have another Polkfest here next year if there is interest in coming back to Charleston.

Troy,
You are going to bring my some nice SDA's on your trip to Memphis, right?
I'd take you out to eat while you are here, but I think we are going North to St. Louis to see show off the little one to his great-grandmother.
What day are you coming?Tschüss

With the 2.3's on spikes, the only way they are moving is if the house is on fire and I gotta grab one under each arm to save 'em from burning.
We'll be in Memphis from Friday-Monday. What places would you recommend??

First...how bout some pics of the renovation, and if this year is in the mill again put us on the list bro.
Take care,

"Hey big man let me hold a dollar" -
There are a couple of famous places that you might want to try. Each have their own style. The Rendezvous (downtown) has dry ribs with a vineger based sauce. Corky's has wet ribs and more of a sweet sauce. Of course there are other local places that are good too, but finding the right one is kind ofhit or miss.
If you like a good burger, then try Huey's or TJ Muligan's.
Where are you going to be staying during your little excursion?
If you need help with directions or any other info, just PM me and I can give you my phone number and email.
Hope this helps.

A Feb 14 post titled "Back in the Saddle" did NOT make me think of audio.

Sounds good. How about a pic of the new room when you have time. I've never heard a system in a 'lively' room before.

Zach...
For pulled pork BBQ head him east of Memphis to the original Bozo's...
In Memphis, Folkes Folly... one of the best SteakHouses I've ever been to... pricey, but great...
Of course he has to hit BB King's on Beale... not for eating, but for some beer and blues. There is a good restaurant close by BB's, but name escapes me...More later,
