Hey everyone. I'm looking at upgrading the speakers and sub in my Camaro. I'm already sold on the db series 6.75" speakers, but have some questions for the subs I wanna run and which amp to use for them. I'm gonna stick with 10s, but would the DVC db series 10s be a better choice than the standard 10" subs? Would the Polk 500.1 db series amp be strong enough to run 2 of either of the above subs or is there another I should look at? Thanks for the help in advance everyone.

It depends on how much you wanna spend.

The most expensive way would be to get a pair of MM2104DVC and power them each with their own 500.1. This would be quite loud.

But for a practical real world system that would hit quite hard you could go with a single MM2104DVC or a pair of MM2104SVC and power them with a single 500.1

That amp puts out a smidge over 600 watts so you get more for your money.

Thanks for the help man. So, a single 500.1 wouldn't be strong enough for two MM2104DVC subs? Or would the SVC units sound better for just the one amp?

the issue is impedance. that amp can handle down to 2 ohms. you can't wire 2 mm dvc subs to 2 ohms, but you can with one dvc or two svc. there's no performance difference between the two, just wiring options.

i say use two svc's, you'll get the most and the best sound out of them.

A single 500.1 would be a perfect match for a MM2104DVC. They handle 300 watts per coil and at 2 ohms, that amp puts out 600 watts.

Thanks MacLeod, but I'm looking to put 2 10" subs in and really don't have the $$$ for 3 amps (don't have it for 2 either, but I can save for that lol). I'm gonna go with the SVC units and run them off the 500.1 amp. Take care everyone and thanks again.

A pair of MM2104SVC's off of a single 500.1 would be a perfect match! ;)
