Well, being the older class of polkies, I don't venture too much into finding new talents, but this group is definitely caught my attention.
The older album "Songs about Jane" has several great song: Secret and Sunday Morning, in particular.
Anyone else?

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

They're dangerously close to being boy-bandish, but I kinda dig a few of their songs.
Sunday Morning is definitely decent. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
"Boy-Bandish"? Uh, ok.
Good CD, worth buying IMO.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Terrible.

they sound ok to me. I haven't bought any of their music yet. but a friend of mine is really impressed with them. Their song First Love got so much airplay it made me hate them. I like She Will Be Loved much better.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I thought so too (as far as few of their songs being enjoyable)
Demi, why? From what I heard, I thought they are pretty talented, and the guitar acoustic nuances (in the beginning) on "Secret" is very nice (either that, or they have one hell of a sound engineer, or both).
Or perhaps, their originality that caught my interest?
Anyone has their latest album?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
I love Maroon 5, Songs About Jane is a great album, I still like their songs even though they are played on the radio 30 times a day.
-
I'd rather listen to Dolly Parton do a William Hung impersonation and stick toothpicks in my ears.Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

I like their CD slightly more than average (I bought it) but the synthesized voices piss me off.
-
I love these guys. I have both the CD and LP of "Songs About Jane." I'm starting a thread on their new album.

I think they be the only band in history to use a voice synth, harmonizer or echo in their music.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
In Songs About Jane, or their new one? I haven't heard the new album yet, but Songs About Jane was all him. No vocoder or voice synths. That's just how is singing voice is.I think they be the only band in history to use a voice synth, harmonizer or echo in their music.

They both have voice work.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

They both have voice work.
I suppose I'm curious as to the extent. I didn't notice any blatant or distracting voice work in their first album.
I need to get their new one... -
Maybe its just me, and Mark, but I thought it was glaringly apparent in the first album.
-
Nah it could be me. I'll give it another listen and listen for it.
When I first heard it I thought I had heard some heavy voice work (think Cher and Madonnas later stuff with them almost sounding like robots), but after hearing more of Lavigne I thought it was just the way he sings. Almost like a pubescent boy at times. -
I'm a fan of both albums, so I have no problems with his voice. I was moreso commenting on Shelby's statement.

Both are great albums and return me to a time when music (for me) was great - the 80s! Secret certainly lets you know that you have a sub hooked up.Regards - Gaz from the land of Oz
