I need your help:upgrade rti38
Greetings from Barcelona.
I actualy have Rti38 fronts,csi30 center, r15 rears and psw202 subwoofer.Receiver:Marantz Sr4300. Use: 90% movies.
I want upgrade my front speakers and i would like floorstanding speakers. My options:
-R50: i like their bass and midrange. Not much their highs.
-Rti8:No have much bass, and sometimes i hear music and movies without subwoofer (because neightbours)
-Rti70 I don,t find anything from the old rti line.
Which will be the right option?
Which better for the Marantz 4300? (the marantz no have too much power)
And one important question: I can put off the tweeter from rti38 and put on to a pair of R50?
Sorry for my language. My english is not very good.
Thanks for everything.

Rti8. After you buy them, move the RTi38's to the rear.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I disagree. You should go with RTi70's and then your sub needs an upgrade.
But if you dont find yourself using your sub much due to neighbors then go with RTi8. That makes you then want to up the center and if you are ok with that then go with the RTi8.
I deff. would say no to the R50. -
Yeah, get the 70's and move the 38's to the rear. For the sub, I'd recommend checking out Circuit City to see if they have any of the older Velodyne CHT models left. They've got a few left at one of the CC's up here for very good prices. The CHT-8 is a nice little sub with plenty of power, and much tighter bass than the 202.

Brett - LOL
I would go with Early's suggestion of RTi8 beings that it sounds as though it would be difficult for you to source a pair of RTi70.
Purchase RTi8
Sell the R15
Replace R15 with RTi38
Purchase CSi5
Replace CSi30 with CSi5 OR move CSi30 to rear center surround
I would imagine that there's another reason for no bass in the RTi8, because it isn't the speaker.
There are alot of options in the AVR and power category. What is available to you in Barcelona?
No you cannot just swap the tweeter.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Thanks to everyone.
Another option:Monitor 60. I heard them yesterday, and well, not bad at all... What do you think?
And the sound of rti8 are very "peculiar", very different from the old rti line, highs very "crisp" (i dont know if this is better or not for ht) and without bass. Is that right ? am i wrong?
wich are the different between monitor 60 and rti8?
Im basically looking for a floorstanding speaker with a lot of bass, that let me hear movies without subwoofer.
is Rti8 the right option? Better that Rti70? Monitor 60 are less good speakers?
Thanks again. -
Greetings.
I have just found a pair of rti70. For ht use, better that rti8 or monitor 60?
Wich are the differences between the trilamanate tweeter from the new rti seires and the old tweeter from rti70? Which better for ht?
Thanks -
I'd say go ahead and get the 70's. To me, they're just as good as the RTi8's. I've never listened to the Monitor series so I can't help you out there. It seems that a lot of people don't like them as much as the RTi's. The 70's are a bit more laid back than the 8's, though. The 8's are brighter and more in your face, and will probably give you more of an impact with movies. Again, however, if the price is good on the 70's, get them. I love 'em...

I have a pair of Cherry RTi 38's that I use with a Yamaha R9 2channel receiver (125 watts per channel, older model). I used these for awhile and then found an "open box" deal at a Circuit City on a pair of RTi70s. I like them alot. They really do sound identical to the RTi38s except with just a little more bass extension.
However, if you really want really deep bass such as from a movie soundtrack, or pipe organ music, then the RTi70s would probably disappoint you. You would still want to use your subwoofer for that.Robert
