Has anyone used ubid to purchase electronics. I've seen some good prices on refurbed receivers, but wondered how well ubid worked. Were the items in good shape, or any problems encountered. thanks.

I(well a friend of mine) bought a refurbished Denon 1905 from ubid within the last month. The outside of the box had a stamp that said there could be minor scratches or blemishes, but that was stamped there by Denon.
Shipping wasn't overpriced for a receiver and the shipping time was reasonable.

I'd buy from them again if I needed a new receiver myself.

    Hope this helps

I've purchased some computer stuff from them in the past. No problems to speak of. I'd buy from them again in the future.

I've purchased quite a few things from them...here are my experience, to the best of my memory:
JVC SVHS vcr - refurb, no problems
Denon CD changer - refurb, no problems
Toshiba DVD player (my first player, back in 2000 - refurb, arrived dead, they wouldn't take it back, had to go through a local service company for warranty service)
Philips CD recorder - refurb, arrived with 1 bad laser, they wouldn't take it back, had to send to the manuf. for warranty service
Onkyo HTR500 receiver - refurb, no problems
Onkyo TXSR500 receiver - refurb, no problems
Onkyo CD380 disc changer - refurb, no problems
AR215 speakers - new, no problems
Advent Marbl speakers - new, no problems
Klipsch Quintet II speaks - 3 pair, new, no problems
Wharfedale 5.1 speaker set - refurb, arrived with 1 broken speaker, they contacted wharfedale for me who sent out a free replacement
Panasonic XR25 receiver - they shipped the wrong color, offered a return and they paid shipping

All in all I think their customer service used to be pretty bad, but has gotten better. Their shipping prices do often seem excessive to me, just be sure to check them before you bid.

Purchased many things from Ubid over the years and never a problem with new or refurb'd .

Probably the last major purchases that come to mind are :

    1 IBM P260 21" monitor (new)

    3 Viewsonic 19" monitors ( new)

    1 Audiosource Amp One/A (refurb)

    1 Yamaha RXV-1000 (new)

All are still up and running strong even with the 3 Viewsonics being about 4 years old since purchase date.

they have had denon avr 2805 and 3805's for sale. The 3805 is for 699.00. Seems like a good deal, i just don't want to pay that much and have to get repairs. But the price is hard to beat. What say you my friends
