Got a quick question. Besides the extra 2 amp channels, preouts, and extra connections, is there any other difference between the 2 units? Am I going to notice any difference in power or sound quality? The 325 is rated at 50 watts x 7, while the 225 is rated at 55 watts x 5. My living room is really only large enough for 5 speakers and a sub, and I've already got a small setup in my bedroom, so I really don't have any need for the 325's second zone feature. I can get the 225 from Drew(whom I've dealt with before) for only $225 shipped, while the 325 is $275 shipped from a guy I don't know from the HTforum(he did provide pictures, though). I really cannot decide which receiver to get. The 325 would probably be the better value, but the 225 is more practical and fits me needs better than the 325.

There would more than likely be no sound difference at all if that helps. I've owned a couple HK's, the AVR25 and AVR10, and auditioned a couple more....the 320 and the 520. No difference at all between the 320 and 520 and that was a lot more than 5wpc difference. As far as the other features , maybe they would help in resale but probably not much more than $50.

Probably no sound difference. However with the 325 you would have flexibility in the future if your requirements change.

Yeah, having preouts on the 325 is worth the extra coin IMO

Well, looks like I'm going with the 325 after all. Drew decided to keep his 225. No complaints here, though. lol.

Yes the preouts are a defiante plus. But there is no major difference sound wise.

I was in the same boat as you were, except with latter model years: AVR 235 vs 335.

Both are 7.1, carry same formats, and, have a majority of the same components. The 300 series is rated with a little more power per channel, has the multi-room function, and a few more digital inputs. However teh 5 watt difference adds nothing. There is no benifit; for an ordinary bedroom the 235 is completely sufficent.

    Beautiful clear powerful sound.:)

it's a shame that the 220/225/235 didn't have pre-outs, their predecessor 210 had pre-outs for all 6 channels, it's probably related to budget cost? marketing stuff?...
