problem with rti100 subwoofer

I just purchased onkyo sr602 receiver. After connect my rti100 to the receiver I don't think the sub in the speaker is working. I adjust volume of sub but there is any change in the bass. I left the jumper on. In the receiver I set sub no and the front was set to large automatically. I also set crossover to 60hz. What's wrong with the connection? why the sub doesn't work?

Turn the crossover off.

Seems there is no option to turn the crossover off. I tried but there is only option like 60hz, 80hz, 100hz, 120hz. 60hz is lowest one and no way turn it off. Thanks

Yeah, I ran into the same thing on my onkyo "B" system... I think on mine it'll bypass the crossover if you have the speakers to large and sub to "no", but apparently that doesn't work for you... Since I had a sub, but wanted my Rt1000i's to handle some of the sub range here's what I did:
1)Take the jumpers off
2)Turn the sub on in the onkyo menu
3)use the sub out to go to the line in level on one speaker
4)Use line out on first speaker to go to the second
5)If you ever add a sub, use the line out on the second RTi100 to go to the sub.
Now, the RT1000i's have an adjustable crossover, so I can tweak their crossover to match whatever, but I think the rti100's have a fixed crossover around 90hz... So I would play with having the onkyo at 80hz or 100hz.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

I just checked the manual for your onkyo- there's no way to turn off the crossover, so just use the setup I gave & tweak around the crossover point- you might get a slight dead spot, but there's no way around it.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Thanks for the reply. For the line-in and line-out, what kind of cable I should use. Composite audio cable? I am a totally newbie.

You can use a common composite audio cable for testing, but you might find that a true subwoofer cable to work a little better. The internals are probably going to be same for each cable, but sub cables are often shielded better.
For testing purposes, just use a composite cable you already have to diagnose if the crossover setting in the receiver is the problem. I had RT1000's and had a similar problem with the sub not producing any sound. I had it fixed, but don't remember what the problem was.Tschüss

Cheap & easy: Use standard RCA audio cables. If the left & right (red&white...) are molded together, just peel them apart. Now if you really want to get into which cables to buy, etc. start a new thread asking about subwooofer cables. A lot of people around here like Signal Cable (www.signalcable.com)- their sub cables start at $25. I own some of their bi-wire speaker cables & I'm happy with them, but I haven't used any of their other cables.
Good luck& have fun!Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19
