yes...your rti12's are designed to produce a full range signal, you could leave your mains on large and not worry about a crossover if you wanted. most people set the crossover to 80 hz but with your spekaers you can go lower. 40 hz or 60 hz would be fine. its up to you, try different settings and see what u like

Given that you're feeding the RTi12's 250wpc, and using a subwoofer from Aiwa (they make subwoofers? ) Your system should sound vastly improved if you actually take the Aiwa out and set your RTi12's to LARGE. Large means they aren't being crossed over, and will probably produce deeper, and certainly stronger bass than that sub.
Well, I could be wrong, do you have the stats for the sub? 75w just doesn't sound encouraging.Dodd Audio ELP [ Tubes ] // Harman Kardon AVR330 // Parasound HCA-1203A // Denon DVD-2900

oh man i didn't even look at the sub....i second what he said, ditch the aiwa and run the i12's on large. mayeb sure you set the subwoofer to no and mains as large. that should be much better.

The woofers in the RTi12 are actually passive subwoofers, they are Crossed over at 120, so unless you pick a low low crossing point for your receiver, you aren't taking full advantage of what they can really do.

Thanks for all reply...My front RTI12 set to large as well as other speaker's,I know my subwoofer is not powerfull enough!!Any suggestion?Should I get more powerfull AMP?TV :>Panasonic TC-P55VT50

Probably not your issue at this point. Here's some ideas:
1). Remove the sub completely (Make sure you pre/reciver has sub:no set), Set the 12's to large, everything else to small and give it a try.
2). If the above does not work, check the phase of the 12's against eachother. They may be cancelling out eachothers bass.
3). If the phase is correct, try better placement options for the 12's and see if you can get better performance.An easy check for seeing if this will help is unplug one of the 12's and see if the bass improves or stays the same. If either of those cases, its a placement/phase issue. If it drops, something else is going on.
4). If none of this works, generate a budget for a true HT sub and replace the Aiwa, move everything to small and go to town.
Edit: I didn't read your initial post clearly enough. I would set it to 80Hz with all speakers except the 12's running on small. The 12's on large.There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. 1) Throw away/sell the Aiwa
2) Go to www.svsubwoofers.com
3) Buy an SVS
4) Profit!!!
Maybe not monetarily, but inasmuch as a speaker can be profitable, this will beDodd Audio ELP [ Tubes ] // Harman Kardon AVR330 // Parasound HCA-1203A // Denon DVD-2900

Chill fanboy!
Wait for his budget if he goes this route... Also there are some very comparible subs for the money and it depends on what he is "most" looking for in a sub. SVS isn't always the best answer, but it is a good place to start.There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Not that it matters but I kinda thought PT was not a "he".:D

Could just be a different sound alltogether. Have you run the following setup:
100Hz X-over
Sub=No
Fronts= Large
Center= Small
Surround=Small
My guess is that will give you the best all around sound, but then that's just a guess...
Also, as for your original question, if you like the way 100hz sounds, then it is better. Plain and simple and for no other reason than you prefer that setup.

I am not surprised at the results when setting the xover point higher...
Those 2s give lots of bass, but they require lots of power to do it. Setting the xover higher means the 12s are producing less bass, this 'frees up' the extra watts and can give you better highs.
Two ways to address this:
1 - Get another amp to power the 12s with. You could get another amp and bi-amp with another 200 watts or more on the lows, keeping your current amp on the highs, or vice-versa. This way you could set your crossover lower and not sacrifice clarity in the upper range.
2 - Add a good sub and just run the 12s on small, but that defeats the purpose of having the 12s anyway...
Bottom line, if you're going to run those 12s full range, you'll want to add a second amp to realize their full potential... -
when you keep bumping up a subwoofer (90hz+) - it starts producing higher frequencies (duh), and also starts to play 'louder' - placebo...
The higher frequencies are a small wave length, and usually is right around where the bass drum is, and this may be where you think its tighter, etc...
The RTi12 should have no issues producing this signal...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
