Anyone have the db104 10" subs?

They have them on sale, $100ea buy one get one half off. Worth it? Right now I'm running some Advent AM-10 subs that I got for free from Crutchfield when I bought a little amp.

Only problem I have with the db104 is that I'll have to buy a new amp to drive them :D

Okay, I'm looking at the two db104 subs (total of $150 from Crutchfield for the two), and a Profile AP1000M 500Wx1 @ 2 ohm from eBay (little over $100). I'll have to pick these up before the end of March, when the subs go off sale.

So you think these are decent subs? I know they're better than what I have now, and I can't really afford to spend any more money than that right now.

    Anyway, thanks for the thoughts.

DB is very good equipment. Its Polks entry level series but still its better than anything in its price point.

Hmm... now I'm looking at the same amp with a pair of Alpine SWE-1041 10" subs. Right now they're buy one get one free on Crutchfield. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IK1Y9E93JR7/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=67600&I=500SWE1041

Considering they're only $89.99, that would be an awesome deal. My brother has two of these subs in the 12" version and they absolutely pound. Tons of excursion, too. They're not quite rated as nicely as the db104, but they are quite a bit cheaper. And we all know that cheaper=better!

Cheaper = less money to spend, easier to get, less time waiting, less build quality, less sound quality, less reliability, less performance.

You get what you pay for and I believe the Polks to be better subs. They may not "pound" as hard as the Alpines but Ill bet they sound better.

Well, I dunno if it's any indication, but there's a review on Crutchfield of the db104's that's not exactly glowing. Claims that he's had several of them that the cone separated from the surround.... that doesn't sound good....

cone seperating from the surround is def. a sign of someone putting too much power to a sub, or playing test tones below the tuning frequency of a ported box...

Or he couldve just gotten a bad one.

Ive been on here well over a year and out of all the **** Ive seen, I dont think I recall anybody bitching about the DB subs.

Surely we wouldve heard about some by now.
