Hey guys, I'm bummin' right now. My NAD T752 is out of warranty and the surround R channel is out - this unit has had a history of amp problems and I refuse to spend hundreds to get it fixed as I'm confident problems will continue to arise. The pre-amp out won't even work for the surround R channel or the sub channel.

So. . . what should/can I buy - I've only got about $600 to spend and need to drive 3 Lsi7's and rt25i's for surround.

I'm up for any suggestions - maybe just start with a good surround pre-amp and do stereo until I can afford more amps. I dunno - HELP!

    tj,

First, contact NAD... If your repair history has been unually bad, they might work with you... Couldn't hurt to ask, but assuming they tell you to take a hike...

Tight budget for powering up that line up... Certainbly there are some AVR's you could make do with, but I think, as you suggest, a step-wise approach would be the way to go...

    A few questions first...
    You've been running a 7.1?
It's the right side surround that's out, not the rear? If so, can you just run 5.1 for a while?
Can you run your sub on speaker level connections for a while?
    More later,
    Tour...

    I'm just running 5.1, 3 lsi7's and one pair of 25i's.
So now I've got a mutated 4.0 with no right channel and no sub. The NAD T752 has pre-outs for 7.1, but only 5 amps built-in.

I'm in an apartment, so I'm just doing without the sub for now - but yes, I could hook it up to the front pre-outs.

    OK...

Well you can run a 4.1... If you can get the rear "1" behind you, that'll work. Most rear surround is mono anyway...

There's another thread about AVR choices in the $300 to $600 range you may want to look into...

On the sub... if you use a main Pre-Out, does that kill the signal to the NAD's internal amp for that channel? It does in some AVR's...

And do call NAD come Monday...
