Phase plug is a 'cone' type thing that goes in the place of a dust cap, usually used on Full Range drivers to improve the sound...

    ETC

I have a pair of Fostex FE166E full range speakers and plan to attach these phase plugs to them. Just a bit hesitant to cut out the heart of the speaker. Don't want to screw it up. I may wait and do one of them and A/B to see if it makes a discernable difference in SQ.

Read through the decware HDT forum. They mention using a craftsman socket instead of a phase plug. They say the opening (3/8") makes a lot of difference.
