I need some assistance with replacing the factory sub in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler, this sub is located in the center console. I would like to use the factory wiring set up, but have no idea on a better sub to use, there is some room for slight modification for mounting (size) within the console but there seems to be an amp involved as well in the center console. Appreciate any help from someone who has knowledge with this.

I would check out this one.

However, you may be better off with building a custom enclosure for the rear or something.

Go here and see how this dude came up with a badass system for a Jeep.

Uhh...you aren't going to be able to use the factory amplifier with an aftermarket sub. It's only about 60-100 watts peak power and running maybe 40 watts tops. The driver is oddly sized too. Like 6 or 7 inches even. It's a long throw driver too. Overall though, there isn't a suitable replacement woofer in the after market that uses the stock amp. You will need to hit up your Jeep dealer or find out who makes the speakers for them and see if they can provide a replacement woofer.

If you are looking for an upgrade then you defintly won't be able to use the stock amp. It's not beefy enough to support any aftermarket sub that is worth your time.

while i agree w/ Jstas, as a fellow audiophile, i must disagree as far as the ability to find a driver...

will it be perfect ? no
will it be as good as stock ? probably
will it fix absolutely dead on ? no
can you make it fit with a little bit of ingenuity? yup...

    60 watts rms - 120 peak . 4 ohms impedance.... should work --- 6" subwoofer

there are also 7's and 5's etc... with varying power ratings... you can get some as cheap as 20 bucks but remember that you get what you pay for...

Tang Bang is an allright basic speaker manufacturer - probably on the same quality grade as the factory infinity sub in the jeep.

tang band is an excellent choice for the money. im not sure what kind of power your stock amp is going to push at what impedance though...you might want to just stick with stock...

    Ahhh....

Seems I have the same problem, after I upgraded the enitre system in my 2004 TJ, I was left wondering, "How do I get this cheap sub out of the console to replace it with a better one?"

After reading the thread I realize I may be stuck with it. My rear sub (10" Type E Alpine) does all the kick **** work at low and high volumes, and provides punch and rumble at the right times, but it seems that the console sub has to throw in its "poppy" sounding 2 bits, Know-im-saying?

I didnt know the factory sub was an infinity though, not bad I guess. It can just be a real **** balancing everything out.

The factory sub is not an Infinity sub unles you have an Infinity system. It's just a long throw, paper cone sub for the Jeep "premium" stereo which is one rung below thier "Infinity system.

Problem with that is that it is NOT a 6.5 inch sub. It is an odd sized sub and 6.5 inch is either too small or too big. I don't remember the exact measurement of stock but it is not a common sized sub.

Couldnt you use a 6.5 and fabricate up a mounting plate or is there not enough clearance to use a plate?
