if I had a single voice coil sub with a rating of 200 watts rms at 4ohms I would only need to give it 200 watts. But my question is, if I had a dual voice coil sub with a rating of 200 watts rms per coil, would I have to give it 200 watts or 400 watts?
Thanx in advance

200 watts per coil on a DVC would be 200x2=400.
Most manufacturers rate their subs at TOTAL power handling. So a 400 watt JL Audio DVC sub will handle 400 total or 200 per coil.
However, Polk rates their subs per voice coil. So say the MM1224DVC is rated at 400 RMS but thats per coil so its an 800 watt sub.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
