Rear speaker placement my problem

My couch is against the back wall it's the only way. My speakers are on stands with the tweets ear level( for now) am I bestfiring them into the room or towards each other and the sound will hit the back of the couch?

I plan on making these stands taller, but with the couch against the wall, once they are 2ft above ear level should they fire towards each other? or into the room ?

I have the same setup with the rear speakers (LSi7) at either end of the couch which is up against the wall. Instead of having the speakers pointed directly into my ears I have very slightly angled them outward so that the majority of the energy hits my ears but some intermingles with the other speakers. This seems to work fine for DVDs, but having the speakers directly pointed across the back of the couch also seemed to work fine.

I find there is a hole in the middle using the set we have. I guess it will be time to lenghten the stands> I'm going to build some blocks under the base to raise it 2Ft above ear level then face them to each other

Hi Willow.
I have the same situation. What I did was make some little shelfs to mount the speakers to the back wall. They are about 3 feet away from either end of the couch and about 6 feet off the ground. I pointed them at each other across the back of the couch. I found that this filled in the gap nicely.

cool, what about wire management what I do has to be WAF approved thats why If I build the base bigger I can still use the current stands hallow tube(once it's emptied) full of sand right now to hide the cables.

I fished the wires through the wall. Then ran them along the baseboards. You can also get a paintable track from a home centre. It is usually a small white plastic track for on wall lamps. It has adhesive on the back to stick to a wall.

They also make some good quality thin(almost completely flat) speaker wire that can be attached to the wall and painted over.

That may or may not be an option though if you plan to move your speakers around at different times.

I would just need to hide the cables in height fom the base of the speaker to the ground, the rest is behind the couch. They are hidden away under the carpet along the boards, when the insurance replcaed the carpets I had them lay 14awg along the walls to the rear of the room. in front of the speaker/stand is an end table. so it's kinda hidden if my internet at home worked I could post pics. So I am thinking of making the base of the speaker stand taller thus raising the whole stand. it would need to go up about 2 ft, right now the tweets are at ear level and fcain into the room.

Acoustically, everyone's room is different. Just a matter of spending time (in some cases a lot of it) to find out what works best. I made makeshift stands from anything I could get a hold of, stacks of books on top of end tables etc. to find the best results. I finally ended up mounting them (RT25i's) on the wall, firing straight ahead about 1 foot above ear level. Have no idea why but they sound great up there. By the way, my reclining loveseat is also right up against the back wall. I'm using that flat XP Monster (ME BAD) cable. I ran it above the drop ceiling and then down along the wall to the speaks. Just paint it the same color as the wall and it is almost invisible. Especially if the room is painted a darker color.
