I'm looking at getting a set of bookshelfs for a 2-channel setup in my bedroom. What's your opinions.
I can get a demo set of last year's Veritas 2.0's for the same price as the SB3's. $600 for either pair.

(edit: actually it is last year's 2.1's, the salesman told me wrong and i verified with him. the new one's are 2.2's)

I did have a chance for a decent audition on the sb3's and did a side-by-side comparison with B&W 601's. I found the SB3's to be much more pleasing to listen to.
I went to a different store and had a brief listen to the 2.1's and they sounded good. I just didn't get a chance to listen to them a lot.
Thanks for your reply Zero. Do you have any input on last years 2.1's, which are the two-way design?

I can't comment on the Energy as I have never even heard them, but the SB3 NHT has tight bass reponse easily down to 39 hz that will embarrass many tower speakers.

Here's a price that might make it easier to purchase the NHT's.

Definitely a nice price. What's your thoughts on it not being an authorized dealer?
I guess it basically voids your warranty, right?

I've not dealt with them, but it looks like they warranty the product themselves for the length of the manufacturers warranty. In business 20 years, I don't see a risk there.

As mentioned above, they do take a good, powerful amp to drive them right.

Try J&R and ask if they can give you a deal on the NHT SB3. They are an authorized dealer for NHT. Be aware that a new series of Super Audio speakers will be coming from NHT.

No comments on the Energy Veritas since I have not heard them. However, I am currently using a pair of Energy Conneisseur C-3 monitors, which has an aluminum tweeter developed from the one the Veritas series uses. They are very smooth sounding.....of course, your experience may differ.

What's this about new NHT's? Is there any info out there on them?

Wow, I did find one article about them. But it wasn't really about them, it was more about the fact that they won't be available until September according to their booth at CES.
