Is it ok to use 12 gauge wire and if so how far can you run it? Would there be a diff in sound using 16 gauge. I'm running the wire to sattelite speakers. Thanks

    Hi:

Twelve gauge wire is fine for front, center, rear, whatever. How far you can run, it depends on speakers and power output wattage. Make sure you have tight connections and don't run the wires parallel to any AC lines in your house. If you have at least 100W I don't think you would have to worry about the length of the run in a normal house. Speaker wire has very low resistance, about 1 ohm per 1000 ft for #10 I believe.

Personally, I LOVE THICK WIRE!!!! I believe the thicker the better. I am new to Polk so bare with me. My Bose speaker manuals have a chart for gauge to distance. If I am not mistaken over 30 feet it recommends at least 16 gauge. I use 14 gauge (at roughly 23 feet) since it is thick but not too thick. My wires run on the ceiling with a thin wire mold so I had to be thoughtful.
16 should do you fine if you are going to "travel" at least 30'. good luck!

You may want to keep that statement about using Bose to yourself. There is NOT a single model that is held with any regard on this forum. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

I know no one wants to hear this from ME, but thicker is always better.

    debor.,

It's Blose. B-L-O-S-E. Not B-O-S-E. Please spell it right if you have to mention them again in this Forum.
    Thank you.

    Have fun here!

I heard that the Bose engineers have proven that your lamp cord will allow you to get greater sound from your Acoustimass system than you ever thought possible.....I think I read that somewhere.

Monster cable has the 10 gauge for those with limitted budget, and it should work well, if you have extra cash, try Z1, Z2 cables, if money is no object, try Z3 or M cables, it will make the different....:)
