In the next couple of weeks I'm going to demo a Rotel RCC1055 CD Changer.

Obviously I will be able to discern wheter or not I like the sound, but I don't know much about their overall build quality, dependability, etc... I know there has been a lot of talk about the Rotel amps and receivers, but has anyone had any experience with any of Rotel's CDPs. Thanks for any input.

Shack, I have had the Rotel RCD-855 for 15 years! It is the work horse of my whole system. It has never given me a bit of trouble.
I think I am going to be upgrading it to the RCD-1072 this year. Solid build and long lasting.
I'll be honest over on the Rotel board there is a thread questioning Rotels quality control. A lot of people are having trouble with some of their amps & processors. But no complaints as far as the RCD-1072 goes.
Check it out!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
I've have an RCD-951 for 3+ years. Solid construction, the remote is kinda cheap, but works fine. This unit is mainly doing transport duty as its connected to an MSB Link DAC III. Yes, it has HDCD encoding, but I don't miss it with the external DAC. I'd love to get the RCD-991 CDP, that things massive and with balanced outs, no external DACs required.

Thanks cfrizz and tonyv1. I get the impression that Rotel CDPs get overlooked becase of their price. Most of their stuff is in the $700 ± range. You can get some pretty good players from NAD and Cambridge just below that price and for a few bucks more you are getting into some of the "audiophile" grade gear. It is tough to find a lot of info on them. I have seen a couple of good reveiws on the RCD-02 and the RCD-1072. I am interested in the RCC-1055 because it is a changer. CD only changers are becoming somewhat rare and allmost non-existant for anything comsidered to be mid-fi. The new Sony SCD-C2000ES has gotten some good reviews but I want to see if the Rotel is a step up in SQ. Thanks again for the info. (I'll definitely take a look at the Rotel Forum Cathy)"Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I've had a RCD-961 for a few years. Actually put it up in the flea market a while back but I'm glad it didn't sell. I also own the Jolida tube cdp and a Myryad and the Rotel isn't very far behind at all. On tube gear it sounds perfect. On SS gear I prefer the Jolida and Myryad.
Rotel cd players are solid and a good choice IMHO. -
I'd run with it Shack, it's an excellent choice.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
