A while back I was said I was working on building a mantel and replacing the harth...end product :

    Very nice looking.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    total time was about 48hrs of work. This weekend I finanly stained the oak trim around the marble harth (took us this long to find the right color stain) americain walnut

    there previously was no mantel and the hearth was a dated pink/grey (ugly A$$) i would have been to much trouble to remove it to have the carpet level with the harth so we put marble over marble with special grout which cost an arm and leg and only used about 2$ worth. I too now enjoy the elevated harth gives it that much more....
