Do we need a weekend moderator?

We should have one of the regulars (preferably a level-headed one) around here have moderator rights. That way when crap like this starts up and someone shows up causing trouble, something can be done about it before Monday.
Right now, there are about ten or so threads showing up in the View new Topics search...four of them are complete garbage.
This forum exists as a service provided by Polk, and I think more people are brought to Polk as a direct result of this place becuase they can see the passion we all have for our hobby. But think about a first-time visitor coming across all those garbage threads. At best, it's going to give them a negative first impression, at worst, it will drive them away altogether.
I guess I pose the question not necessarily in the literal sense, but more so just to stir up thought. If this were the first time this has happened, it would be different of course, but it seems like every other month or so we get someone on here trying to ruin things for everybody.

I agree. Polk should give the "Polk Masters" some moderator responsibilities if they want it. If they have to they could sign some sort of agreement. I'm sure no one would abuse the privilege.Graham

I saw this idea and format work pretty well on a coastal fishing board I frequent, however, that board has very strict language rules on posts and topics.
Justin takes pretty quick care of these outlandish guys, so they are temporary annoyances. I just skip over or ignore. Middle of the road on this one.

Our club does not require moderation from the company. There are enough members that will never allow malice.
This is our strength imho.
I can't wait for the Steelers to get on the field;)

Right. We need a treasurer not a moderator. I'll step up. Send me your money and I'll keep an eye on it. Okay, I'm a little busy right now with my other job, so maybe I'll just be the Weekend Treasurer for awhile. This would benefit everybody almost, cause it would let me get a good start, and help out the folks who only want to send money for me to watch on the weekend. If enough people participate then I can think about doing it full-time.
