Lets try this again with better data and methods.
Avr set to stereo, crossover at 80, volume at -12. Speakers calibrated at 75 dbs. And data recorded at 3 diff phases- 180,90,0.
I think its pretty ugly but would like your input and suggestions. This is the best spot in the room for placement......thanks kevin

Yep, kind of ugly... (then again, I have no room to talk...) Anyway - nothing a Parametric Eq couldn't help with.

Any chance of moving it around your room and seeing if it gets any better in other locations?
Also, re-run the test with the 20 hz tune and see if it gets any better or worse. I would have expected the peak to be more in the 23-28hz range rather than the peak you are getting at 36hz or higher.....

    Airplay
    Thanks

McLoki, The 23-28hz performance also has me kind of stumped. Will rerun in the morning with it tuned at 20hz.

Also I am on the lookout for a restraining order from SVS to stop posting such ugly things:rolleyes:

Here is how it looks with 1 port blocked to a 20 hz tune.

    Opus,
    Consider adding a BFD.
    http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25462

It can't really help with the low points but it can bring down the peaks and smooth out the response. The 20 Hz tune looks better, maybe 16 will be better still.

Did you run the 20hz tune at a phase of 180? I think the 20hz tune looks alot better. It may sound a little more boomy due to the 36hz peak, but you can get that under control with a BFD. I recently added one and really like it.

An easier (but more expensive) option would be a rane pe-17. you can get them from svs for about $400 but off e-bay for about 1/2 that. For your needs, a BFD will work just as well - (maybe even better)

Try the 20 hz tune at different phases and see if it gets any better (or worse). You might also try the 16hz tune, but that cuts down on the overall output of the sub by quite a bit.
