Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has purchased/owns a DVD Recorder?

I have finally purchased one yesterday because the price tag was in my ball park ...$299.99 Cdn for a Sony RDR-GX300(basic model/no hard drive).

However, my problem is that when I make a recording on to a blank rewritable disc... the disc does not play back on my Toshiba dvd player or even on my cheap Proton dvd player? it shows an error reading/wrong disc. I tried putting the disc through the finalization formating and it still doesn't work.

I was wondering if I am doing something wrong? Am I using the wrong disc to record my programs or am I just out of luck? I was planning to record some tv programings and was planning tp play it back onto another dvd player in another part of the house. I was wondering if this disc can ONLY play on the machine that I have recorded from or on a DVD player/recorder from a PC?

I presently using the DVD-RW....should I be using the DVD+RW instead to record my programs? Also, what is the difference between the two? I try asking the sales guy but he know as much as I do. This home DVD recorder is starting to become an computer issue...which is definitely not my specialty.

Your opinions/recommendations/experience will definitely be appreciated as always. Good luck!

Well, my Panasonic DVD recorder is one of the older generation models, so I don't know how similar it is, but:

    1. Make sure you finalize the discs.

    2. Try DVD-R instead of RW.

    thanks Polksda,

Just wondering if can play your recorded discs from your panny to another (brand) player such as (Sony,JVC,Denon,Toshiba...?) or even on a pc/dvd drive?

    thanks!

(my dvd has been finalized but with no success....Ill have to try a different type of disc to see if that works)
