Hey people,

Earlier today I was fiddling around and decided to compare the quality of my portable cd player to my dvd player for 2 ch music. Being that I already have a headphone jack splitter thingy that converts it into 2 rca jacks I used that..... To my suprise I noticed that Pink Floyd's - money was only one channel sound. At the start of the song its a cash register / till thingy making sounds that are supposed to go from left speaker to right and left again etc... but it seemed that I only got one of the channel's sound. Any thoughts?

Here is the splitter - (link)

I have used similar splitters when I was in school and on my kid's system. They are notorious for having bad connections to the point I have resorted to using a seperate lead to ground the music source to the receiver. The connctions for left and right are also small and subjuct to hit and miss connection with the receiver. My only suggestion at this point is to try "jiggling" the connection at the sound source and see if that will result in both channels working. The other thing you should try is headphones with the same source to see if you get the same thing - if you do it is a problem with the source.

    Good luck,

    Scott

Well I know its not the source since headphones don't do the same thing and I dont think its a loose connection.... If I run the left channel to the right and vice versa I seem to get the other channel of stereo music... kinda weird. Thanks for the imput though.

I'm still stuck with this problem. I have now hooked up a receiver to my computer through the 1/8" headphone jack using this "stereo" rat shack splitter but I still only get either the left or right channel in sort of mono. It's tolerable but stereo would be much much nicer. Any ideas?
