Go to the "CES 2005" thread.

There is a picture of them there.

They are due out sometime mid this year from what I gather and although we've heard no word on pricing, Im guessing theyre gonna be competitve with MB Quart Premium and the like so say around $500.

no you didnt waste your money. Those MMC's are awesome and youll enjoy them while youre saving up $500!! :D

I dunno about $500... I don't know the exact prices, but I'd say $500 would be an ebay transshipping price. I could be wrong though. Just want to make sure no crazy rumors spread across the internet.

    Ouch!

I know youre not confirming or denying anything and this is all speculation but if they would be going for around $500 as unauthorized, Ebay stuff then that would probably put them in the ballpark of $900-1100 retail.

That would put them way out of my range. :(

Oh well, I guess its Quart Premiums for me. :(:(

No. I have this limit of how much money I can put into any single component of my stereo and still look myself in the mirror. Thats about $500. I could never spend $1000 on a set of car speakers, no matter how good they sound.

At least not til I win the lottery then its QSD's for everybody!!! :D

What? Coaxials? These are "Compaxials" They can be used as components or coaxials. The crossover is the most serioius piece of car audio speaker equipment we've ever developed. We're including the highest end components we could incorporate designed by our in-house Industrial Desginer and crack-team of engineers. Wow, this sounds like a commercial!

Thats a lot better but still beyond my reach.

Dont get me wrong. Im not saying theyre not worth it or anything like that. Just that for those of us that have **** credit and have to buy everything in cash, anything much beyond $500 is just not practical. I mean hell, it took me months just to save up $160 for my MM6!

I guess we needed a one-notch-below-top-of-the-line model for guys like me! :D

And I like the idea of a component that can run like a coaxial. That way you get component sound quality but not have to drill holes in your door panels for tweeters.

is the crossover going to bandpass each piece, or is it just a beefed up standard issue crossover.

will there be a lower threshhold shallow slope safety roll off on the woofer, in addition to the obvious steep slope low pass, and vice-versa for the tweeter?

    just curious.

I don't think anyone else in the industry has gotten to that point yet, as then the user's own additions may not mate up as nicely as one would think. it's do-able, don't know anyone who's figured it out yet, but it's do able.

I don't think the final drivers have been made yet (Josh and Thom can comment at will), so the peak and RMS powers aren't finalized just yet.

6.5 compaxials are coming out first... 5.25s are planned to come out later...

I'm very interested in this speaker myself. If they sound anything like my LSi9 home speakers, they'll definately be going into the truck.

Dream Theater is an excellent disc for testing speakers.
