Center Placement

I have two quick questions on center channel placement.

First, my TV stand is just the basic wooden cheapo thing, with a large shelf for the TV and then two shelves below that are boxed in. I currently have the center below the TV on one of the shelves, which means it's essentially enclosed on three sides (with some breathing room). It's definitely tough to hear, and I'm wondering if this is a **** place for this.

Also, it's angled up, does anyone think there's any difference between putting the speaker below the TV and angling up vs putting the speaker ABOVE the TV and angling down?

Thanks for the input.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

The best thing you could do is try it in different positions. We can only speculate so much without being there and seeing it. Each room will have different sound characteristics based on furnature, speaker placement, etc. If you have the time, try putting the speaker in different areas and see what sounds best and most natural FOR YOU.
    HT Setup:
    Pioneer VSX-D912K
    Polk CSi30 Center
    RM6005 Satellites (Fronts/Surrounds/Rear Center)
    Nameless 10" Sub

Mi csi3 is under the TV angled up towards the listening position. It is front ported So it doesn't matter what is behind. I pull it out ever so slightly so the speaker sticks out just a tad more than the edge of the TV stand to avoid deflections of the sound. Works well. The top of out TV is to small and a shelf on above the tv is a no go.
