I have rti100 for a while. I would like to have a center speaker now. The polk website recommned csi30 but I can't find it anywhere. Any suggestion on that? How about a infinity alpha center whic is on sale for $129 only. THanks.

By the way, A dumb question: I currrently connect composite audio out (Left and Right) from dvd player to receiver. Did l loose 3 channel? so center speaker will get nothing if I use this connection? My receiver has 5.1ch input but the DVD player has only two audio out.

Well if you want it to somewhat match, stay with polks... csi30 can be found in the used market online..

far as the dvd setup, you need to use a digital coax or optical cable to get surround sound in 5.1 and above.. the inputs for 5.1 are for dvd audio/sacd player hookup.. your dvd player should have analog left/right outputs plus a digital out, if it doesnt you wont get 5.1 or any sound other then 2 channel analog

    What receiver do you have?
What DVD player do you have?

A CSi30 or CSi40 would be good matches for your RTi100's. Both are difficult to find used at reasonable prices.

Don't get the Infinity. It will not be timbre matched to your system.

The csi30 is hard to find. How about the csi3? It's old kenwood receiver. No optical connection but has one coaxial connection. Never used before. Is the coaxial cable same as the cable for TV?
I am thinking about upgrade the receiver under $300. I am looking for onkyo or denon, which brand is better for polk?

I've seen a lot of people prefer Denon, but Onkyo is fine too. Check www.ecost.com or www.pcmall.com if you don't mind refurbished receivers.

The coax in is a digital input.

Does your DVD player have a digital coaxial output, or an optical output?

If your DVD player does have it, then you will want to get a rca digital coaxial cable to get Dolby Digital.

How much are you looking to spend for the center channel. I might know where to get a CSi40 if you are interested.

I am looking to spend around $150 for the center and $300 for the receiver. Thanks

    Online used, CSi30's are usually around $100 to $120. 40's are $200 to $240.

Is your receiver an old Pro Logic, or is it Dolby Digital? If you don't know, look at the little logos on the front of the receiver, it should say either "Pro Logic" or "Dolby Digital", or maybe "AC3".
