Too bad the sub's wimpier than a hamster. Otherwise, it would be a killer system.

So it looks like several people posted that they were gonna grab these. Did anyone ever actually purchase them, and if so, what are you thoughts??

I'm looking for computer speakers and am considering these as an option...

They might present a better soundstage because of their nature, but I'm 99% sure the RTi6 will easily out perform it in sound quality across the board. The specs say this system only goes down to 70Hz, and that appears to be WITH the subwoofer... ouch.

For a lot less than Von S., I picked up a Monsoon set-up. Satellites are cones and ribbons, with powered sub. About $126 less to be precise.

That's about what I thought regarding the KEF's I traded you for the AR Receiver. But hey, if you like them........

You sleeping with Von S. or what? If so, I think he's really ugly and think you can do better.

Speakers for a computer hotshot. If I want authenticity, I don't sit at my computer to get it. For $20, I think I did just fine, and have very little intention of running out and spending $150 to do a comparison.

Actually, I haven't even had a chance to listen to the KEF's yet. Luther (Wardsweb) has them down in San Antonio. He's refinished them for me, I've just got to pick them up next time I'm down south.

In bed with the VS's, of course not. I just think they are neat, not the usual hodge-podge everyone else has.

DING! That and they are quite attractive with the finished wood on the panels instead of the usual white/beige/gray/black plastic that permeates the computer industry. I think that a good business could be had in building and selling computer cases with a much more natural finish like wood paneling or upholstered panels to match home decors. Taking a living room full of Victorian furniture and oriental rugs and dropping a **** computer desk and a large, dull, metal case in the middle just kills the whole scene.

Besides, they are working on the same premise as the Carver Amazings just in amuch smaller package. On top of that, the 70 Hz lowere end is probably not that big of a deal. Computer speakers are ment for near field listening and the gain that you experience due to your general proximity will probably offset that rather high low end extension. It is rated at +/- 3dB and if that is the case, I'd like to see what the low end extension is at the -6 dB drop.

I IMO don't see why people build computer rigs, with integrated's and amps.. if you want a 2 channel build one of those... I have a sub/sattalite system on my computer but its cheap, and purchased well before i decided to do the 2 channel rig thing..

WITH all that said, Those are some kick **** looking speakers!!

If i was into pc audio... id think about those.. :)
    MY HT RIG:
    Sherwood p-965
    Sherwood sd871 dvd
    Rotel 1075 amp x5
    LSI15 mains
    LsiC center
    LSIfx surround backs
    Lsi7 side surrounds
    SVS pb12/plus2

    2 Channel Rig:

    nad 1020 Pre-amp
    Rotel 1080 stereo amp
    Polk sda 2B
    kenwood grunt Tuner
    realistic lab 450 TT
    Signal cable IC

My point exactly faster. I already have a Boston Acoustics BA735 sub/sat thing hooked to this computer. It is okay, but I can't get excited about a computer rig. Then again, I don't play video games or anything like that on this thing. It just plays the audio portion of whatever attachments and **** that I get. It also cost me $20. I bought the Monsoon rig for $20, only used it once to hear what it sounded like being fed directly from a single cd player. It was money well spent. It is small enough to be transported and used as a road rig on trips or vacations, being fed by a portable cd player.

One of the LAST things I'm worried about, is matching my computers appearance to my home decor, but this COULD be a concern to some. Certainly not me.

The ribbons on these Monsoons appear to be working on the same principles as the Amazings as well.

That was my question...I think the answer is no. I think I'm gonna pass on these, but that's only because I need a decent amount of bass since I do some gameplay...plus I listen to alot of music since I spend a good bit of time on the computer...

I was looking at these and considering them for my office, but then prudence smacked me in the head and said "Yo dumbass!! WHY???"

I have my computer system at home running lines out to a regular 2-channel rig (Wharfedale 7.3 speakers -- not the best in the world, but they were cheap and do a decent enough job in this limited capacity). Why not use the same approach at my office? With all of the various audio components lying around I can do better with scraps.

I will (hopefully) be changing jobs in the next few weeks, so I'll wait until then and start things off right with a new system:

    Sony STR-GX909ES Receiver
    Ah! Tjoeb 99 CD player
Polk Monitor 5B or Monitor 10 Series 2 (will depend on the size of my office where I'm going).

    Computer speakers? Naahhh....

My neighbor has Wharfedale's and I was never really impressed with them. They are floorstandars and very warm (which I like in most cases) but there is little accuracy in the mid to high's. I like detail but there is none and what surprised me about them most was they just don't image well at all. I figured most floorstanders would image well but I'm known for being wrong... I know his set up needs work but without the detail I just could not see the point in any effort.

I hooked him up with a pair of monitor 5's and he is using them in his 2 channel set up:D and now the WD's are restricted to TV... and thats as good as it gets IMHO. Not good theater speakers either but at least their better than TV speakers.

Please don't take this an attempt to trash your speakers but as pretty a speaker as they are they just don't get it for me.

Trash away! :) The Wharfedale's cost me less than $100 about 5 years ago (the MSRP on them was something ridiculously stupid like $600). Since the system is only used for games, MP3s, and other silly stuff, who cares?

Now the system I'm planning for my office will also be used to play CDs, so that's why the Polks go there...

I had a chance to listen to these this weekend.

Overall, I'm dissapointed. The highs are really clear and good, mids are good also. Now I wasn't expecting a great deal of bass from these, just enough to make music sound decent...but I didn't even get that. They rate them down to 70hz, but they roll off pretty quickly at closer to 90hz...

They do look nice. They don't sound bad, just not as good as I had hoped. They don't sound nearly as good as the Klipsch system I had (too bad that was a POS though and was returned to CC).

My opinion, one of the better PC speaker sets I've heard...but I feel there's better out there in that same price range.

Now, if they had added the capability to add another sub in the mix, then we'd have a different verdict...
