PSW10 Hookup

Hi all,
I just got my psw10 and 5 polk surrounds (4 plus center) and now I have a question... The Polk manual shows the receiver (Sony STR-DE897) Subwoofer pre-out going to the LFE in (unfiltered) on the sub. The issue is that there IS no LFE in on the sub.
Do I need a splitter here? All the speakers are currently running from the receiver, but I get little to no audio unless I have the volume really high. I don't know whether the receiver was damaged in transit or if I just have a basic wiring problem. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
John

Hi John, welcome to the club.
Just run the sub pre out to any coax input on the sub, dont matter which one. Use a splitter if you'd like.
The other speakers have little volume correct? If that is the case check to see if the receiver has a DSP mode on, night time mode or something like that. Check to see if the DVD player has compression on etc.Graham -
hey john
check the output levels to all five speakers at the sony receiver and make sure they are all at maximum.

You shouldn't need to do that, but check to see if each channel is set really low. If so, return it to zero.
To me, it sounds like you have not selected the right speakers and the sound is just leaking through. The receiver may have connections on the back for a second set of speakers (Speaker set A and set . If you're running surround sound, make sure you switch the speakers over to speaker set A. If that doesn't do it, check your connections again and make sure that you have the polarity correct between the speakers and the receiver (the red/black connections on the receiver correspond to the red/black connections on the speakers).
For the sub, run the LFE/Sub output on the receiver into a Y-Splitter. Then plug that splitter into the left and right RCA jacks on the sub. make sure you set the crossover to the maximum value, as the receiver will be doing all the crossover work for you.
Hope that helps!HT Setup:
Pioneer VSX-D912K
Polk CSi30 Center
RM6005 Satellites (Fronts/Surrounds/Rear Center)
Nameless 10" Sub
