I have completed several projects in the listening room and was listening to the Red Rider song ‘Lunatic Fringe’ the other day. I noticed something that I had not heard before that surprised me. So dust off those old discs and have a listen.

Question: What is the first spoken phrase in the song?

Answer: ?

    From memory...

Lunatic Fringe... I know you're out there...

    Was I close?

One back at you... What movie used this song during the build up to the dramatic final encounter?
    More later,
    Tour...

Not quite; have a listen. Think of my statement 'I noticed something that I had not heard before that surprised me'. If you remember some of my other posts, I have bought/made accessories for my equipment and room that improved the overall sound.

I remember a movie as described, but the title eludes me. Did a Google search, but that's cheating.

There is something spoken in the buildup portion at the beginning. Some small phrase but I can't quite make it out.

    Will listen carefully tonight.

    Good ears!
I tried here at work with semi-reasonable pc speakers but can't make it out. Sounds like Si-si on this system.

Don't tell anyone what it really is. If they want to know they can buy better equipment. :)

I'll take a listen at home to see if I can figure it out.

:D Can't think of a better reply. Thanks mm.

I had not listened to this song for many years. It was the evening, had my eyes closed, the phrase is tucked neatly in with the music. I jumped up, turned down the volume and looked around to see if anyone was there. Quite un-nerving experience as I was not expecting this. For a moment, thought I was on my way to the 'Lunatic Fringe'...

    Me too.

And I made that out on the cheapie Dell/HK PC speakers at work, playing a 128Kbps MP3. With the air compressor running in the background....

Actually, I'd heard it before, but I couldn't remember what it said.

    Oh! Oh! I know again!

    Filmed in Spokane.

The above mentioned, Linda Fiorentino was in it.. What's that guy's name? Matt Modine or something like that??

I have the soundtrack on vinyl...

Surely I should win something this time.

"See ya on the other side..." starts at about 24.26 seconds in and lasts about one second. I've never heard that before.

    nice going jcaut. very good.

young up and coming actors starring in the movie were..

Daphne Zuniga - she played Margie Epstein... the newspaper girl

Forest Whitaker - he played a small wrestler part..

    Raphael Sbarge - Schmoozler

Linda Fiorentino - this might have been her first movie roll that started her career.

    it's a good fun movie.
