SL2000 Vs RD0194-1 observations?

Last week I replaced the SL2000 tweeters in my Monitor 10B’s with the RD0194-1 silk replacement tweeters from Polk. I have to say the replacement tweeters sound considerably better. To me they sound smoother and clearer. Considering the price of $96.00 (for 2) delivered, I would recommend considering these if you interested in improving the sound of a Polk speaker that uses the SL2000.

I was wondering what other peoples observations have been when they replaced the SL2000 with the RD0194-1?

They are much smoother than the originals. I've been an avid listener for many years. The first 30 seconds of listening to the new replacements converted me. The next day I ordered 20 replacements to do my SDA-SRS, 1.2's and 1C's. No contest.

I finished upgrading my SDA-1As last night. I changed the original SL-1000 tweeters to RD0194s. The 194s are certainly not as intense but they seem a little distant and somewhat veiled. FYI: These speakers are original except for the tweeter upgrade. Is this what others have noticed?

The 194s are a great upgrade. I left my system on for 24 hours with a radio source at a medium low volume. Listening tonight I found them to be very smooth with no fatigue. They did not seem distant except with certain recordings that are probably not very good to start with. I will keep them on for another day or two and continue to listen. Very pleased.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago and never regretted it. We're lucky that Polk still makes replacement tweeters for a product so old! I ended up putting the RDO-194 tweets in 2 pairs of 10B's and selling the SL2000s on eBay.

    (2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)

Analog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1
Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-Ray

exact same thing happened to me. Thats when I learned it takes a couple
of weeks to eval anything. I don't mind making mistakes in front of everyone.
Thanks to this site I new they were available!
