Speaker Calibration

Should I rely on my receiver's test tones as an effective tool for properly calibrating my speaker levels or would the use of a test DVD such as AVIA, for example, be the preferred method?
I've recently read somewhere that the test tones built into most receivers don't cover enough bandwidth necessary to provide the optimum adjustments. Is this true?

Depends on the receiver but, at least with my Pioneer VSX-D412, I know it is nowhere near close to full bandwidth. Go with the AVIA disk, you'll be glad you did.
