About to pruchase from crutchfeilds a new system:
fronts Polk rti6
center Polk csi3
sub Polk psw10 or psw303

I'm going to use my older polk rt3's for the rear speakers, and Onkyo TX-sv454 reciever.

I have 2 questions:

1st. The system is going in my living room which I would clasify as medium in size 20x18 and I'm not sure which sub to get. Polk is offering the psw10 free with a purchase of over $499 or $200 off any other sub. The main diference that I see between the subs it that the psw303 is a 8' at 100watts(price $300) vs. the psw10 being 10in at 50 watts($200). I am not a big fan of lots of bass but realize I need something to supplement the rti6's. I will be using the system for both music and movies, but am more concerned with the perfomance of the sub for music. It seem that most subs are either 10in or 12, is 8in any good? Any thought would be appreciated, I'm really clueless.

2nd. Is polks Rti series better than the new monitor series? I could get the monitor 40(has two 5.25 drivers in each speaker) instead of the Rti6(has only one 6.5in diriver).

Thanks in advance for your help.

For a room your size, I'd be looking at getting a sub with a 12" driver and as powerful an amp as possible. See if that $200 discount will go towards the PSW 505, if you can swing it. Even having a sub this big doesn't mean that the low end has to destroy your house, it's more about matching and filling your room space.
