or the Digital Display Sound Level Meter

Yep. Analog.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I own an analog. I borrowed a digital one from a friend just to see how I would like it. Overall, I prefer my analog.

Own an Analog also, so a bias vote Analog.

Analog, sounds pretty monotonous, don't it?

I own the Digital RS SPL Meter and prefer over the analog. Both analog and digital will do the job. Its like a wrist watch, I prefer the digits than the needle, like an alarm clock over the needle one. I love digits and use to of them. I found my Digital SPL to be more precise and accurate and much easier to use.

I think I'll pick up the analog unit, it's cheaper! And I've already got the Avia and DVE dvd's (combo deal from amazon).
The speakers should arrive today (it's currently -5 deg F out). -

What a better way to spend a cold evening than to hook up new speakers. Just a thought, keep in mind they might have been in the back of a cold delivery truck given the temp you mentioned. Let them warm up to room temperature before you crank them to avoid any problems. Then sit back and enjoy them! -
i use the digital one. it's only $10 more. and i find more accurate to me.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

xj,
I'm not sure how much it helps the RTi's, but it did help my LSi7's to let them break in for a few hours before you punish them with extreme volumes(maybe 50-100 hours). You can do this overnight if your receiver is well ventilated. Use white noise(I just used an unused radio station that had no interference from other stations).
Enjoy them. Hope you find a receiver that fits your tastes soon to really get them a good workout.

I own both.I have the tried and true Radio Shack 33-2050 analog meter and an American Recorder digital pro series. I have used them side by side and the readings are identical. The old foggies there will probably insist on analog but let's face it- we're in the DIGITAL era now, keep up with the times Gramps! But seriously, it's a matter of taste not accuracy- not to mention mula. Digital does cost more. Hope this helps. Shine on brother!!:DSony STRDA-5000ES

Well, I guess the $$hit has started! Hmmm, Digital Theater Surround and Dolby Digital Surround - wonder if they would have had the success they have if it had been ATS or DAS?
