i just received my new rti4's. i loved them in the store (tweeter), but they dont sound as good in my home. they sounded awesome in the store. I am also playing some old kenwood speakers at the same time. that may be my problem. i am also running them on a old receiver, which i plan to get a yamaha htr 5740 soon. dont get me wrong the speakers still sound good, just not as good as they did in the store. i am using them as my rear speakers now. i plan on rti6 or rti4 for the front, csi3 for center, and a sub. maybe once i complete my system it will all blend well together. any ideas?

    Welcome to the Polk forum.

Try them as your fronts for a while by themselves to see how they sound. It may take a couple of days before you start to notice very much with them. I'm not sure about the RTi series, but most speakers sound a little better after a few hours of playing(this is called break-in).

A few questions to help you/us out:
What receiver are you using to run them now?
What receiver was running them in the store?
What size room do you have compared to the listeninig room at Tweeter?
What settings do you have your current receiver set on?
    Tschüss

i'm not sure the model number of my receiver, but it is about 12 years old. it was a great one at the time. it is plenty of wattage. the receiver in tweeter was a yamaha, but i'm not sure the model #. maybe i should find out?? that is why i plan on upgrading to a decent yamaha, unless someone has a better recommendation. the room at tweeter was bigger than my room, so i thought it would fill the room more.

I would agree....try to hook them up as your mains only do not hook up your others right now. How old is your speaker cable ? maybe time for new stuff. Are your connections nice and tight ? Clean? Just go through your cd's and play a mix of your fav stuff let your ears break in

    Hi Scott,

Keep in mind the RTi4 is a small bookshelf speaker. I've got some old Kenwoods as well, that put out more bass than my RTi8's, but the crisp, clean sound of the RTi8's mid and tweet makes it a superior speaker.

I bought my RTi4 speakers last summer. I really like them, and I am pretty picky. Give yourself time to get used to them, especially if they sound a lot different than what you already had. Peace.
