Which speakers?

I just remembered why I wanted floor speakers! In my basement, where the DVD system is, I have a Pioneer/Accusound 2 channel system, it consists of 2 3-way 12" floor standers and a rack full of Pioneer components, my parents bought it all for around $2000 10 years ago, excludong the DVD player and T.V. I really like listening to that system because the floor shakes a little even with no sub and the sound is really full and just sounds awesome. I want to have that sound with the added bonus of a subwoofer in my own room, so when my parents tell me to turn the subwoofer off because its late I can still have full sound and slight shaking. Will bookshelves in my budget acomplish this or do i need a floorstander? Do u still recomend I go for the bookshelves? On that note I've been looking at the Athena AS-F1's. How do they compare to the Polk R30's? Or any other floorstander in that level?
