I'm pretty dumb in the car audio department so if I don't make much sense bear with me.

I recently purchased 2x MM2124 with the right cubic feet sealed enclosure and am curious as to what the max guage wire I can use with it, to give it a fat enough tube to be able to pull it at its peak.

I am also curious as to what 2 channel AMP MTX or Polk makes that will be able to fully handle both subs at their peak and not underpower them.

P.S. Also in the market for a 4 channel amp that can efficiently power both my MOMO 6x9 component set and my MOMO 6.5 component set if anyone is able to help me on that aspect.

I will be runnin them on a higher end pioneer premier deck, not sure on exact model yet.

Thanks in advance!!

For wire, use no less than 16 guage with 14 and 12 being better.

For an amp check out the Polk 500.1. It would put out a little over 600 watts and be the bare minimum I would recommend for those subs. From MTX go with the Thunder801D. That puts out an easy 400x2.

For an amp for your speakers, if you want to stick with Polk then chech out their 400.4 (75x4). That would power them just fine. Or if you go with MTX then get the Thunder684 (85x4).

If it were me I would go with the 801/684 set up. Bulletproof reliabilty and construction with tons of clean, underrated power! Check them out here. They are on clearance and are available at great prices.

If i was to strip my car of its current wiring and rewire it with 12 guage wire all around, would it make a noticble difference?

If i hook the 2x 12's up to the thunder801 amp would I need to wire them in a series? or parallel? what ohm would the amp be running at? 2 or 8?

What type of(if any) amp kit would you suggest? my last car system i put in(3+ years ago) i used a Monster Cable amp kit, are there better kits these days?

Thanks again for taking the time.

Would 12 guage make a difference? Well if youre currently running all OEM wires to your speakers then yes. Although you really dont need 12 guage to your speakers. For those 14 would be fine but ya know what they say, "you can never have too big a wire".

You would wire the subs in parallel which would present a 2 ohm mono load to the amp.

Dont use Monster Cable. Check out Sounddomain.com and take a look at what theyve got. There is also Knuconceptz.com. They have very good wire at great prices.

I have heard good things about Phoenix Gold and was wondering what you thought of me using the following:
    http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOTSX44 x2(one per amp)
    and X feet of:
    http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOTI122SB
wire for re-wiring all the OEM stock wire with that stuff.

P.S. How much wire would it take to re-wire a hatchback integra would you think? 40 feet?

Thanks again, I'm learning lots =)

I would rather see ya use this Streetwires kit. Then use this for speaker wire.

Normally I go 20' per speaker. This is probably more than youll need but its always good to have a little left over. So youll need 80' for all 4 speakers and then it depends on how close you mount your amps to your subs as to how much youll need for those.

I was thinking of something along the lines of this(Bear with me)

This is a rough diagram of the rear trunk of my car

    Front
    |..X.........X..|
    |..|__+__|..|
    |.................|
    Rear
    X= Subs
    + = Amp

Is there a downside to having the subs in the trunk and the amp behind it? Or would you think it will sound better if i pull the rear seats up and mount them under neath the seats and put an amp under ea front seat.

P.S. With 2x amps of this potency, will I need a special type of car battery? or will my normal every-day car battery do just fine if my alternator is running normal

    Thanks yet again

That looks fine. It doesnt really matter where you mount your amps as long as theyre secure and have plenty of cooling.

I wouldnt worry about a battery unless youre lights dim everytime the bass hits or your battery is dying on you.

If that happens, and I doubt it will, then move up to a bigger batter. Dont worry about capacitors and high output alternators. Unless youre running mega watt systems you dont need em.

Another question that I ran into.

Would I notice enough difference between these:
    Thunder801D if I upgraded to the Thunder1501D
    Thunder684 if I upgraded to the Thunder1004 4 Channel 1000watt amp

to warrant upgrading to them if price isnt that big of an issue?

Or will the 801/684 pretty much peak my stuff out and any excess will go to waste?

I think it would be a waste actually. The 1004 puts out over 150 per channel and thats way too much for the Carbon speakers. The 684 is an easy 100 per channel which would be just right.

the 1501D is a monster that puts out over 800x2 and that would turn your new subs into a real fancy set of bookends. The 801 is actually a bit much but if the gains are set properly it will be ok.
