Eagles:Hell Freezes Over

Now I know why I have Polks. I started listening to the Hell Freezes Over DVD (DTS) and I had to listen to the entire thing! The Eagles seem to be real perfectionists, which is a great bonus for us. The voices coming through the CSi5 sounded fantastic. The bass on track 19, 'In the City', scared me when it started up. This DVD will definitely be part of my 'reference collection'. Too bad the video sucks on it, its definitely not made for big widescreens. The audio wasn't perfect, but damn near, a couple times there would be some extra noise floor on Henley's mic, but he sings so good it didn't ruin the mood. This is a great DVD for turning the lights off and kickin back. I don't know of any other band that has that many guys that can sing lead vocals. Don't get me started on how great the PB10's were. Anybody who says the PB10's aren't 'musical' is smokin crack.

Do yourself a favor and listen to this one,

    Heh heh, first place I heard this was at H-Bomb's. The bass coming from his twin SVS columns when he played 'Hotel California' about imploded my chest. :)

    I've had this DVD for quite a while. Totally agree! Always been one of my favorites. I love their accoustic version of Henley's "Heart of the Matter."

    This is a must have DVD!

    I played mine so loud that it sent my JVC receiver into thermal shutdown. The Harman Kardon 7200 that replaced it handles it much better.

    I like this DVD about as much as Diana Krall's "Live in Paris".

    I have it as a CD, DVD-Video and the DVD-Audio. It's my favorite album! This is what really made me realize the difference between regular CD's & DVD-Audio & SACD's.

    My brother flipped when he heard the DVD-A. The pan of the cymbals from the front speakers to the back speakers made him jump and ask "What the hell was that?" I fell out laughing because it was the same thing I asked when I first heard it.

    Great album. Get it!:D

    This one is on my list -
    I see that Bonnie Raitt's Nick of Time is available now. Haven't seen it in the stores but saw it on one of the sites that Amazon links you to when searching for DVD-A's & SACD's.
    Has anyone heard this one yet?

    Although the DVD-A disc sounds wonderful, I don't like the engineering much... on hotel calif., the bongos are coming from the rear right IIRC. Sorry, music doesn't come from the rear at a concert!!! Annoying...

    I guess I'm just anal about that stuff. Great DVD-A otherwise.

    IIRC = Rear Center???

    The DTS track is only 5.1, so you won't hear a bongo directly behind you. :D
