Help w/Speaker Wiring

Okay...

Somebody tell me if I`m all eff`d up..

I have 2 rotel 980 amps in mono..
I wired each speaker like it say`s in the book
Right channel to one amp from pre..both speaker wires on the +
left channel to the other amp from pre...both wires on +

I`m in mono on both amps , so It shouldn`t fry...RIGHT ?!

    For the right channel you need to run the right output from the pre amp to the left input of the right channel amp. For the left channel you need to run the left output from the pre amp to the left input of the left channel amp.

    To hook up the speakers, look at the markings below the binding posts, it'll show you how to hook them up in the bridged mode, ignore the markings on the top of the binding posts.

    Give them plenty of space to vent, you can cook bacon on them when bridged!!!

    Something isn`t right...
    Humm...not real loud, but sounds like the shower is on in the distance.
    left side no real power...
    right side nothing..

    I stopped quickly so as not to fry anything..

    Lets start over again
    all amps work in stereo....no prob
    all speaks are fine....no damage

    I might have wires crossed somewhere....doubt it , but I`ll let ya know what happens on round two

    I was thinking I could get some real power to the speaks if I went mono on both sides..
    I`ve never done it before, never had the gear to try it

    I have a line on a tube pre that I want to use and I think I could get some real good ,powerful sound If I had the 360w comming from the Rotels instead of just one Rotel in stereo @ 125w

    Hmmmm.......

    You have the manual I take it. Study the drawing closely, it's easier than reading the instructions. Did you flip the stereo/bridged switch?

    yep !

    I followed the drawing as to what I could make of it..
    I`m not used to not using the black side to ground, so I got a little nervous !

    I`m going to try again...maybe I didn`t have the I/C cable right.

    That was it...!

    The I/C goes to left side on both amps..
    I had it going left -right..

    WOW...Too cool... :D

    Now I have to get a good tube pre amp,
    and maybe another 980 !!

    Glad you are enjoying your new found power. I found bridging to be a very efficeint way to get lots of high current power to each channel.

    So what kind of speakers are you driving?

    I`m looking at my RT55i`s That are on stands right next to them.

    They will be my next victims..:D
