After a few days thinking about it and some Christmas money burning in my pocket I decided to purchase LSi C with free psw10 and shipping from Crutchfield. (I wanted to get the LSi9's as well but they won't ship them to APO box)

So I'm going to place the order for the LSi7's and some rear surrounds that I haven't decided on yet next. If any of you know any place that will ship LSi 9's to APO PLEASE let me know. I'd rather have the 9's but will settle for the 7's for now.

What do you recommend for rears? I love music and movies equally and play them about the same split. When I play music it's on 5 ch stereo most of the time. The rears would be placed equal distance from the center of my sofa on the sides. For 5+ ch music I like the idea of getting another set of 7's. What are the pros and cons of that idea over a set of FX's pointing towards the center of the sofa? Like I said, I love great 5 or 7 ch stereo as much as great DD and DTS sound fill.

    Since you like music in surround sound and you can get 7's shipped to an APO box, just get two pairs of 7's for the front and rear. You'll find that there are many people on this forum (myself included) who prefer the 7's over the 9's, especially with a sub.

    BTW, for music you'll want direct reflecting speakers in the rear, so the 7's would work out quite nicely.

    I just found out that through amazon com, I can get the LSi9's, though they haven't shipped yet.
    So for now I have the front stage set and can't wait to listen.

    I'm getting a free sub which will be sold to offset the cost of everything. One coming for the LSi C, and I should have another one coming if I get my rears before the 10th from Crutchfield and I'm still undecided on the rears.

    I'm wondering, since my rears will be very near by and facing my position, if bi-pole diffusing rear is ideal for surround. Would I get a more percieved depth having true surrounds vs direct?

    Personally, I thought the 9's were far better than the 7's when I did my side/side comparison. Granted I sell them and listen to them almost daily but when I set them up dedicated off an HK stereo amp (direct, no switchboards), the 9's were FAR better. The extra mid definitely helped blend that gap from midrange to tweeter. I'd spend the extra money for the 9's up front and go with 7's/FX's in back. Do it once, do it right.

    yeah when I first listened to the ('s I thought they were sweet and had my mind set on them. Then, for shipping reasons had to go with the 7s and I figured they couldn't be far off the performance of the 9s. Either way I managed to get the 9's and I think I'll go with the 7's for the rears. My room is not really big enough to support both the FX and the 7's, though that's is what I'd ideally do for surrounds. Once I get back to the states I should have more room, I may do that then. but for now I think I'll be pretty well set. I just need a sub upgrade and don't want to spend more than 1k. Any recommendations appreciated.

    Any news on when the LSi W will be out? I heard about the plans for them to make it but haven't seen anything since. That was a while ago too.

    Polk released the LSiW for a few months, but had problems with the amplifier shorting out and causing fires, so they recalled thema and haven't re-released them. In the meantime, you might try a subwoofer from SVS , HSU , or Outlaw Audio (also produced by HSU). I'm not sure if any of these will ship to APO, but you can email or call all of them to find out for sure. The personal favorite of most people here is SVS. The PB10-ISD is thier entry level, but is a very strong performer. BTW, do you have to run everything on 220 volts, or 110 volts?
    Some subwoofers will have a voltage switch, but I'm not sure if any of the ones I mentioned do.

    I can do either voltage, but need to transform it to 110. A voltage switch feature would be the best for my current situation. Thanks for the info on the LSi W. Did all kinds of searchs on it and never did know that. From the few who did have them, I wonder how they sounded?
